34th Resurrection

[What does Theo do when he's bored? He gets drunk! And he certainly gets drunk a lot. Today's no exception. You'll find him:

A) At the pub, at a table. Somehow, his two crow familiars have snuck their way in with him. One is sitting on his shoulder, chatting at him quietly. Theo talks aloud with it. The other is flapping from table to table, sitting on chairs and curiously looking at other patrons, eavesdropping on conversations. Occasionally he returns to his master and fills him in on any juicy tidbits he overheard. Feel free to annoy/talk to/attempt to shoo Theo and his feathery friends.

B)Outside, there's someone who's fallen over in a snowbank! Maybe it's outside your house or you're passing by, but there's Theo, stuck there like an upturned turtle. There's a dropped flask a few feet away, and the crows are sitting with him unsure of what to do. The braver one gently pecks at his knee. The other one is doing the crow version of laughter.]

Quiet! Shut up! 'Course I can get up. Just gimme a minute.

[It's not going to happen. So what will you do? You should probably point and laugh and leave him there, but you can try and help him if you want.]

Magic is pretty great! But I don't think it's for everyone. [She shrugs and takes a long drink.] People tend to abuse it, you know?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-04 01:15 am (UTC)(link)
Hnn. [He'll go quiet at that, and take a long drink himself.]

[identity profile] sting-like-a.livejournal.com 2011-02-04 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
That was part of the problem for us back home... Power entering the wrong hands -- and not just magic! So I guess you can't really blame those guild guys of yours...

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-04 01:28 am (UTC)(link)
Guilds are pretentious anyway. You can't get in without loads of money or nepotism. People like me with neither can't get in, and it's almost impossible to study magic without being in one.

[identity profile] sting-like-a.livejournal.com 2011-02-04 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
That's just dumb! Why restrict it like that? It just encourages people to abuse their magic!

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-04 04:40 am (UTC)(link)
Mostly to keep it out of the hands of the general public. Still, I found my ways around it and learned on my own.

[identity profile] sting-like-a.livejournal.com 2011-02-06 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't that be considered illegal?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-06 12:29 am (UTC)(link)
There's not a lot of laws governing magic. There's a massive underground movement for people like me who don't want to deal with guilds. Has been for hundreds of years.

[If Theo only knew of all the laws enacted now because of what *he* did back home. He ruined everyone's fun.]

[identity profile] sting-like-a.livejournal.com 2011-02-06 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
Sheesh. Is it really worth going to all that trouble, just to learn a few spells?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-06 02:03 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, definitely. At least I think so.

[identity profile] sting-like-a.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
[She goes silent for a moment, not sure what to think of that.]

...Sooooo~ What kind of magic can you do, then? I think Ken mentioned something about zombies once...

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 03:05 am (UTC)(link)
Necromancy, force spells, and some alchemy. Alchemy is a base for most forms of magic, though.

[identity profile] sting-like-a.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 03:30 am (UTC)(link)
Necromancy... ewww. [She wrinkles her nose.]

Alchemy? That's just making stuff, right? And what're force spells?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 03:45 am (UTC)(link)
Alchemy is like magical chemistry. But at more advanced levels, there's almost no limit to what you can do with it.

Force spells manipulate gravity.

[identity profile] sting-like-a.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
[listening with great interest!]

That's neat! We don't have anything like that at home. A lot rune magic is just... manipulating the elements. You've got fire, wind, earth, water... then there's stuff like shield or blinking magic. And theeeen you have True Runes, but I dunno that much about those.

No alchemy or force stuff, though!

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-08 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
We have those kind of magics too, though I haven't heard of true runes, though.

Hnn, too bad. I'm new to force spells, but they're fun.

[identity profile] sting-like-a.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 02:18 am (UTC)(link)
True Runes are... [She trails off and wrinkles her nose, thinking.] They say all normal runes -- like mine -- are born from them. And then there's the creation myth, but... [shrug]

But they're reaaaaally powerful! And super rare, so that's all I really know about 'em.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-02-09 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Interesting. Sounds like something I'd like to check out.

Not that you would ever be able to find one, let alone wear it... but no. Not allowed~!
