50th Resurrection

It's Theo's 21st birthday! But unlike most guys his age, he won't be out partying. When does Theo ever party? Instead, he's trying to go about a normal day without interruptions. He's not that lucky though.

a) You'll find him storming out of the bank, as his drone coworkers has approached him with a balloon and a cake. They stand around in confusion as he marches off and makes a bee-line towards home, grumbling.

b) He'll be hiding out in the library, trying to get some peace. Anyone there might notice the man reading books that clearly aren't from the library itself. They're old and well-worn, and any titles rubbed off long ago. He occasionally makes notes in a small notebook as well. Care to bug him?

c) At home, Theo's glad that the house no longer has drones in it, so they won't bring up this birthday crap. Little does he know, though, that the former drone wife has marked the calendar. He'll be sitting outside on the porch, his crows and cat close by. Head is titled back, cigarette dangling from his mouth, and eyes closed, Theo is attempting to enjoy the cooling fall weather. He occasionally takes a sip from a flask in his jacket pocket as well. He's been even more miserable that usual lately and it's even starting to get to him, so he's trying to unwind.

[Since she has the calendar, he knows why. He looks at it again.] You don't have to do that.

[Though he may not think it, she actually brought the coffee out just to be nice. Since he isn't taking the cup she'll set it down beside him however, and smile.]

The calendar says it's your birthday. Is it off, or do you prefer not to celebrate?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 01:32 am (UTC)(link)
[He'll take it after a moment. Paranoia always rears its head, making it hard for him when people approach him like this.]

No, it's right. I just don't bother with it.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 01:34 am (UTC)(link)
Then at least I won't need to correct it. [She pauses. What do you say to that last part, anyway? Especially since she's the one who asked.] I suppose birthday wishes would be out of place then... Should I let you be, or do you want some company for a while?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 03:02 am (UTC)(link)
Whatever. Been hearing it from drones all day. Enough shit's happened this last week, I don't need them on my ass too.

[The shyer of his crows cuddles up to him, and chatters something at him quietly. Theo rolls his eyes at him.] Yeah Phobos, it was fun for about ten damn minutes, but Mayfield always drags shit out.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
[Kira watches and blinks, before looking at Theo] You can understand them? To me it's just noise.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. They're my familiars. I understand them, and vice versa.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 03:11 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds kind of nice. Do you understand only them or other animals too?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Only if I cast a spell to. But, it's an easy one.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 08:32 pm (UTC)(link)
[Kira giggles softly]

Easy for you maybe. I'd never be able to do it.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
If you have the talent for magic, it's a basic spell.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 09:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I seriously doubt it. I'm really very normal.

[Other than the time she saw a ghost, and that time she could sense Rei, but those are different]

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
Odd, since it's almost abnormal in Mayfield to find someone who doesn't do something "different".

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-06 03:22 am (UTC)(link)
Unless seeing a ghost once is 'different', I'm afraid I'm the odd one in Mayfield.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-07 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Ghosts and spirits are fairly common in this town, so not really.

Well Mayfield doesn't have powers it can give back and then take away or manipulate whenever it wants, at least.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-07 12:59 am (UTC)(link)
That's true I suppose. I can't really imagine what it feels like to lose one's powers, though if it's anything like losing the items I hold dear, it's really sad.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-07 04:48 pm (UTC)(link)
It's like losing part of yourself. I got it back after a few months, though.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-08 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
That's a good thing. [Kira looks at the familiars] I'm taking it you feed them, since you haven't asked me about doing so?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-10 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I do, or they find things themselves. They're crows, so they're not picky.

[Deimos, the braver of the crows, sits near Kira to look her over. The other, Phobos, sits on his masters knee, fluffed up and comfy.]

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-10 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
That's right. Crows are one of the smartest birds out there I think. [She looks down at Deimos and smiles at him, even if she isn't sure he'll understand.]

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-10 05:16 pm (UTC)(link)
They are. Though since they come from Mayfield, they sort of act droned.

[identity profile] infinitemars.livejournal.com 2011-10-11 12:49 am (UTC)(link)
Even the animals are droned? [Kira frowns. She's taking this so easily]

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-10-12 01:19 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah. They won't hesitate to tell you how much they love Mayf--

[He's cut off as both crows caw cheerfully in agreement. Boy howdy they sure do love Mayfield!]
