[Moving down the street is a pair of individuals. Though moving might be a generous term, as the young, disheveled and put-upon man is really being shoved from behind down the sidewalk by an orange pony in a cowboy hat.]

Ah don't care if you don't want to or not, those letters said you have to and you are not ignoring your responsibilities while Ah'm around! And don't say you have nothing to talk about either, you can just offer them one of the fritters Ah made and show them the letter you got. It's as much for their own good as yours, so git goin'!

Alright, alright! I'm going, aren't I? All I gotta do anyway is give them the old "Welcome to Mayfield, get used to a life in Hell" routine anyway.

[Applejack is literally shoving Theo down the street to do his Homeowner's Association Committee duties, so they really can be along any street, leaving it open to anybody who wants to say hi to Applejack, bug Theo, or merely comment on a full grown man carrying a tray of apple fritters being pushed along by a talking orange pony wearing a hat. They'll be stopping at the houses of Mayfield newbies too, as part of Theo's association duties make him part of the welcome wagon.

And you were droned for a long time? That must have been rough. Everything I hear about being droned makes it sound like one of the worst things that could happen to ya.

chaos, usually. [He turns to look at Theo] I'd almost say it was good I do, however. At least I won't be taken off guard by Mayfield's shenanigans.

Still, you two make it sound like there's different types of droning? One that works as a punishment and one where you go away?

Not unless you wish to. [He smiles at Theo a bit, but it looks as if he's sort of picking on him. chaos then turns to Applejack and nods.]

Yes. There's a temporary punishment for not following the rules, usually being droned a few days when it happens, and there's what tends to be referred to as 'Permanent Droning.'

It's basically when people go away for long periods of time, if they ever return. Sometimes it can be months.

Where exactly do you 'go,' do you remember? Or does the town block the memories?

As I understand it, some people return home and can remain there a time before being pulled back here. In my case, I don't really remember anything from during the time I was gone, however.

That I can answer. At no time does it seem anyone is gone. A girl from my time, MOMO, existed here from a period close to a year prior to where I came from. At no time did she ever seem gone from our world in that time.

Makes me wonder about guys like me who're dead back home then. I don't exist there anymore, but most other people seem to be existing in two places at once.

So, when folks go back home, it's like they never left? That's kinda a load off mah shoulders since Ah've been worrying about mah family and business back ho- Wait, what?

[She turns to look at Theo in surprise.]

I mean just that. I died and then woke up here in what seemed like the next instant. There is no "home" for me except Mayfield now.

[A series of expressions pass over Applejack including surprise, confusion, pity, and sadness. Needless to say, if it wasn't obvious before, this pretty much just proved Applejack has no poker face to speak of.]

So Ah guess that's what you meant you had nothing to go back to? Ah just thought you were just being grumpy...
