[It's this simple, Mayfield: Theo Crawford comes home to find a black and white cat asleep on his bed. This is not his cat. It does not belong to anyone in town. But he recognizes it immediately.]

Aristophanes?!

[The cat rouses, seemingly happy to see the familiar face, and walks over to Theo demanding attention. Any members of the household or visitors who investigated the exclamation will find Theo staring dumbfounded at large tuxedo cat.]

[He hasn't forgotten the girl who murdered him during Mayfield's last event, either. Revenge will come, but Theo has learned some patience since he's come to live here. Every day in Mayfield was the same. He was irked about be snuck up on, but felt better when he found out the prizes for the battle royale were pretty lame. His paranoia will be in overdrive, though. Anyone out today who is within a block or two of Theo, and can sense magic, will be able to detect strong protective spells radiating from him.

He's sitting on a park bench, reading a spell book while making notes in another. One of his crows sits on his shoulder, gently chattering at its master. The other is teasing the tomcat, squawking and dancing around it, but the cat doesn't really seem to care.]

Deimos, would you leave him alone already? If he claws you, don't come crying to me.

[The cat looks at Theo, who returns a flat look.] That's not an invitation, so don't get any ideas.

[He looks up. He figures he did something wrong again. The crows caw a greeting at Nina when they see her. The cat is indifferent.]

[Yeah, Ken is gonna approach, concentrating Theo holds no danger for him. Yet. Whatever, he can dodge.]

[He's not aiming for you, Ken, you're safe. It's Bernkastle and Cain who better keep on their toes. The crows squawk at Ken, saying hello.]

[Shana is just watching Theo and his spell book, like a little sneak. She's got on a new black cloak over her mayfield-issue pretty little teenager clothes, which looks rather patently ridiculous.]

[Mart walks up to Theo, noticing the mass congregation of birds.]

Dude, what's with all the crows?

They might be trying to get your eyes.

[Well, to be fair, it's only two that are the familiars, but they do sometimes attract others from the neighborhood. He vaguely points to Phobos and Deimos though, without looking up from his book.]

These two are my familiars. The cat's not mine.

[He looks up at Mart, frowning. Why is that funny?]

Yeah. Got a problem with that?

[Mami does indeed approach, if with a subtle and hidden wariness, and doesn't get too close. She still can't sense the magical energies of others, so she's unaware of the spells; no, this untold suspicion is born from certain conservations held during the event, where she steeled herself to shoot Theo down should he be targeting anyone in the church.]

[His eyes raise to Mami a moment, then go back to his notes.]

Hnn. He just showed up today. He's not even mine but Mayfield thought he was, I guess.

[The cat walks to the end of the bench, watching Mami.]

Does that make him as good as?

...and does he have problems with being petted? I'm not interested in getting clawed.

[Kay apparently hasn't noticed Theo sitting there, or hasn't put together that this is his cat. Or possibly doesn't care. All the same, she's kneeling down and calling out for it with her hand extended.]

[Aristophanes hears someone calling, stands and stretches and trots over to Kay.

Theo hears a familiar voice, which pulls him out of his work. He sits up and lights a cigarette.]

Strange. He's usually too lazy to greet people.

[Kay smiles and puts her hand out for kitty to smell, and then starts lightly petting him if that goes well.]

Is he yours? When did you get him?

[Yeah, Theo and Kay aren't on the best terms, but apparently the presence of a cat is good social lubricant.]
