28th Resurrection

[LADIES AND GENTLEMAN OF MAYFIELD! How were you enjoying your night last night? You probably weren't. Things are pretty ugly in town. And Theo would have agreed.

The hazmats came knocking the door down, but Theo was ready for them. Initially he was afraid of anything happening to his house, that his magnificent collection of spell books be destroyed. Kay was staying down the street, and the rest of the house was currently droned. He had rigged up some pretty strong force spells to protect the house in case of an invasion. But when a huge swarm of hazmats came in, armed with flamethrowers, Theo knew the jig was up, and set the spells off. Mayfield fixes everything the next day, right? What's he got to lose?

There's a large explosion at 337 Brady Lane. Most of it is done with sheer force of gravity, blowing off doors and windows; the fires that the hazmats set go with it, flames shooting out all openings for a moment before getting snuffed out from the force. The windows of the surrounding houses will rattle and maybe break, or have things knocked off shelves, nearby trees will snap. Theo's dead, but so is every hazmat inside. The house is in shambles.

Imagine Theo's disappointment when he wakes up the next morning when he wakes up to a house STILL in shambles. His precious library is ruined. After having what pretty much boils down to a tantrum inside, Theo can be found sitting on the curb outside his house, covered in soot, smoking a cigarette and looking mighty displeased.]

[He smirks a little.] I wish I knew. A bunch of 'em came running in, so I didn't waste any time. I ran upstairs, waited for all them to get inside, then set it off.

You went down with the enemy? Ruins the effect a bit.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 07:17 pm (UTC)(link)
[He shrugs.] I knew I'd come back. As long as I got to put a dent in their numbers, I'm happy.

[Well, he doesn't look happy.]

...Though, I thought the house would be back as well.

Excellent explosions aside, you still lose a few points for dying.

As if Mayfield would be so kind. Besides, they weren't really our houses to begin with.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2010-10-27 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe not, but my stuff was inside. Stuff they had sent back to me. Fuck... [He rubs his forehead.] I am seriously screwed without those books.

[identity profile] insectoidalien.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 12:03 am (UTC)(link)
What... kind of books?

[Thanks Theo, you just reminded her she left all her drone research in her as of yet totally unburned house. Going inside didn't sound like a wonderful idea, but if she lost all her research...]

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 12:24 am (UTC)(link)
[A sigh.] A large collection of very rare spell books. One of a kind items. And not to mention the components I had managed to collect this far....

[identity profile] insectoidalien.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 12:43 am (UTC)(link)
I can't see much use for exploding spell books beyond exploding.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 01:51 am (UTC)(link)
They didn't explode. I set up spells as defense against the hazmats. I wasn't planning on taking the house down unless I really needed to. And considering how they swarmed in, I figured it was time.

[identity profile] insectoidalien.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 02:00 am (UTC)(link)
Hiding at least a couple of books elsewhere wasn't an option then?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 02:50 am (UTC)(link)
I didn't have many places to put them. I have to keep them locked up.

[Someone's a mite paranoid about his books.]

Besides, I figured the town would put the house back to normal. But I guess this is their idea of a goddamn punishment. I haven't even seen this damn Communist everyone is supposedly hiding!

[identity profile] insectoidalien.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 03:39 am (UTC)(link)
Because the first round of destroyed houses wasn't enough warning.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 12:59 pm (UTC)(link)
[Hnnnnnnng.]

Look, any damage to my house was always fixed by morning, alright?

[A-and maybe he was a little drunk at the time, okay?]

Who the hell are you, anyway.

[identity profile] insectoidalien.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 01:11 pm (UTC)(link)
A neighbor. [That's all you're getting out of her]

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2010-10-28 01:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Hnn. [He puts out his finished cigarette, and immediately lights up another.]

Well they didn't get any other houses on this block, so you shouldn't have any problems.
