41st Resurrection

[Look out below, Mayfield! There's something being dropped on you. It's small and light, made of wood... why look, it's a chess piece. It might have been dropped right on you or nearby you from above, by a large black crow. It sits on a phone wire, cawing. Does it sound just a little bit like laughter?

Elsewhere around town, Theo can be found searching for the pieces, grumbling to himself. A different crow is sitting on his shoulder, occasionally hopping or flying nearby to help look. Theo's talking to it.]

No, go over there. Higher! You're a bird, don't you have better eyes than people? He's taken almost all the pieces. Just know when I see him next time, I'm gonna wring his neck.

[They stumble across a piece every once in while, but didn't you just get hit with a chess a few minutes ago?]

[[Please just specify if you're approaching the first crow - he can talk to people - or approaching Theo and the other bird!]]

My my, what ill behaved pets. You should discipline them more often.

*Nanami walks over with gentle footsteps.*

There's more of these?

I should wring his scrawny neck is what I should do.

Chess pieces? Yeah. 32 in a set. I've found about 15.

That should work... I wouldn't choose that type of punishment personally but I think that'll do just fine.

*a smile*

Is that so? I've never heard of Chess before so I don't quite understand what you mean.

[H-He would never, he likes his birds! Her response gets a raised eyebrow from Theo, but he ignores it.]

Another one who's never heard of it, huh? It's a strategy game.

I apologize for my rudeness in advance. I come from an age not as technologically advanced as this one. Also, I spent most of it isolated so I do not know much about what little culture my world had.

You're hardly the first. Chess is a centuries-old game in my world, but that doesn't mean it exists in yours, I guess.

Ah, that does make me feel a bit better.
