[Look out below, Mayfield! There's something being dropped on you. It's small and light, made of wood... why look, it's a chess piece. It might have been dropped right on you or nearby you from above, by a large black crow. It sits on a phone wire, cawing. Does it sound just a little bit like laughter?

Elsewhere around town, Theo can be found searching for the pieces, grumbling to himself. A different crow is sitting on his shoulder, occasionally hopping or flying nearby to help look. Theo's talking to it.]

No, go over there. Higher! You're a bird, don't you have better eyes than people? He's taken almost all the pieces. Just know when I see him next time, I'm gonna wring his neck.

[They stumble across a piece every once in while, but didn't you just get hit with a chess a few minutes ago?]

[[Please just specify if you're approaching the first crow - he can talk to people - or approaching Theo and the other bird!]]

Oh. Yeah. Damn bird's been hiding 'em all over town. [He'll take it back. Warren's being stared at by the other bird on Theo's shoulder.]

[ Warren is giving that bird the weirdest look. Like he can't decided whether to be surprised or suspicions or something else. ] You have two? Or is this the same one?

Two. They may look alike but they're polar opposites in personality.

[He notices the weird look.] They're my familiars, if you're wondering.

Ah. [ the look subsides a bit, but now he's curious ]

I was wondering, in fact. Not many people go around with crows on their shoulders.
