41st Resurrection

[Look out below, Mayfield! There's something being dropped on you. It's small and light, made of wood... why look, it's a chess piece. It might have been dropped right on you or nearby you from above, by a large black crow. It sits on a phone wire, cawing. Does it sound just a little bit like laughter?

Elsewhere around town, Theo can be found searching for the pieces, grumbling to himself. A different crow is sitting on his shoulder, occasionally hopping or flying nearby to help look. Theo's talking to it.]

No, go over there. Higher! You're a bird, don't you have better eyes than people? He's taken almost all the pieces. Just know when I see him next time, I'm gonna wring his neck.

[They stumble across a piece every once in while, but didn't you just get hit with a chess a few minutes ago?]

[[Please just specify if you're approaching the first crow - he can talk to people - or approaching Theo and the other bird!]]

Theo

[Archer is quietly watching by, knowing at this point Theo and Gil are connected as Master-Servant. However, he makes no moves to help nor to really talk. He is genuinely curious about his ramblings though.]

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 01:18 am (UTC)(link)
[The crow with Theo is one of his familiars, so if Archer can understand magical creatures, he'll get both sides of the conversation. If not, it's still pretty obvious from Theo's end.]

Yeah, you crows and your shiny things... they're not even that shiny, you know. They're wooden. He just did it to be spiteful!

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 01:57 am (UTC)(link)
[Archer can tell it's a familiar, but has no way of understanding it. Though one thing is clear, so Archer quickly goes into spirit mode and reappears by a near by wall thing (tree bark, pole, whatever) and speaks.]

Looking for something?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
[Sneak up on the paranoid guy, good idea. He jumps back a bit, frowning at Archer.]

The hell--?! Yeah, so what?

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-04-25 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
[Archer never claimed to be the friendly sort.]

Maybe talking to a familiar, that doesn't seem to know anything, isn't the best approach. Just a thought.

[The other bird quietly chatters something in Archer's direction. He's been *trying* to tell Theo it's not his fault! Theo frowns at it.]

Yeah, probably. Whatever, I'm probably just going to buy a new set and let the featherbrain keep those pieces.

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-04-26 01:05 am (UTC)(link)
[He feels you crow. Even if he can't understand you. Summoners don't know anything about their familiars.]

Giving up then? Too bad. It might just happen again if you don't put an end to it.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-04-26 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
Not if I hide it well enough. He'll lose interest.

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-04-26 06:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Guess these birds don't have much of an attention span. Maybe you'll find your pieces after all, if that's the case.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-04-27 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Too smart for their own good. For birds, anyway.

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-04-27 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
That's what you get with magical familiars. Heightened intelligence is part of the deal when they are created.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-04-27 02:51 pm (UTC)(link)
[He thinks of his Servant... Heightened intelligence, riiiight.]

Hnn. It's not that they're not smart, they're just... crows. They still act like them. Though if I wanted a mindless automaton, I'd make one. [He's a necromancer after all.]

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-04-28 07:34 am (UTC)(link)
[Gilgamesh is a different case. The corruption made him a lunatic or something on that level.]

Then why the crows to begin with, if they only cause such headaches?

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-04-28 01:09 pm (UTC)(link)
There's not a lot of animals to work with in Mayfield. Gotta work with what you've got.

[Don't let him fool you, Archer, he loves them.]

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 09:24 am (UTC)(link)
[It's because only the birds would put up with Theo on a regular basis. He shrugs]

Your call. It's just a suggestion. Maybe get your pieces as wood, so they won't be inclined to take them.

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-04-29 01:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah. It'll be hidden too. Well whatever, they're his now. And I'm still not teaching him how to play.

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-05-01 07:52 am (UTC)(link)
Why would you even teach a crow to play in the first place?

[Theo are you that lonely...]

[identity profile] sanctusdei.livejournal.com 2011-05-01 03:14 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm not. That's why he's mad.

[identity profile] fatesjanitor.livejournal.com 2011-05-07 03:06 am (UTC)(link)
Why not just put it down then. What good is a familiar that won't respond to your orders.
